As notified in the August 2009 Edition of the Health Professions Council Newsletter the HPC opened its Register to practitioner psychologists on 1 July 2009.

UNISON welcomes decision to clear nurse’s record

(19/03/09) UNISON, the UK’s largest public sector trade union today welcomed the high court decision to clear the record of Amanda Jenkinson,* the Worksop nurse who was wrongly convicted of sabotaging a patient’s ventilator, and struck off the nursing register.

House of Lords dismiss PoVA/PoCA appeal

(02/03/09) On 21 January 2009 the House of Lords dismissed an appeal by the Department of Health against a court ruling that employees must have the opportunity to make representations before they are placed on the Protection of Vulnerable Adults and Protection of Children Act "provisional list."

Professional registration-representation unit: advice for members

A new leaflet to alert members how to get help if they are told an allegation has been made against them and they are to be investigated under the Vetting & Barring or Protection of Vulnerable Groups schemes, or by their professional registration body. The key message is “act fast!”.
