64 for Aung San Suu Kyi

(01/06/2009) On 18 May, Aung San Suu Kyi (ASSK), leader of the pro-democracy movement in Burma, was put on trial on bogus charges designed to keep her from standing in planned elections in early 2010.
The global community has joined forces calling for her release. UN secretary general Ban Ki-Moon will travel to Burma in July, hopefully to try to seek her release and that of over 2,000 other political prisoners, of whom over 30 are trade union and labour activists.
A website has been set up for people to leave video and text messages of 64 words to mark her 64th birthday on 19 June (having spent many of her previous birthdays under house arrest). Dave Prentis has left his message on
www.64forSuu.org. Follow his lead and leave your message (or twitter 64 characters) for Suu. All messages will be delivered on her birthday on 19 June.
