President's statement on Burma'Many of you will have seen the front page of today’s Independent with a desperate plea from our honorary life member Aung San Suu Kyi, smuggled out of Burma.
In her letter she makes the poignant plea ‘please use your liberty to promote ours’.
So on the day before her 65th birthday we not only send her our best wishes but we also hear her plea and recommit our union to work ever harder to bring about her liberty and the liberty of the people of Burma.'
