'The most important public policy campaign in the country'

(01/12/09) UNISON's Million Voices campaign "is one of the most important public policy campaigns in the country right now" – those are the words of housing minister John Healey, speaking at the union's housing seminar last week.

The Westminster seminar launched the housing strand of the Million Voices for Public Services campaign on the back of a new report from the Association for Public Service Excellence.

General secretary Dave Prentis told the seminar: "Many of our members still see decent housing as the foundation for effective public services. Not just in terms of the housing provided directly … but also because of the way in which decent homes more widely across all tenures are a pre-requisite for decent health, decent education and a decent quality of life."
